My stomach wakes me with the sound of a roar
I can’t stand up now or I may fall to the floor
So for now I will stay snuggled up in my bed
Damn that White Russian that pounds in my head
As the other women cooked my taste buds were requested
Hind sight tells me now that I should have protested
My love of glazed ham, crackers and dips
Has caused a few inches to grow on my hips
Yummy cocktail wieners with Bro’s spicy mustard
Sweet little tarts filled with creamy rich custard
Ores devours, desserts and booze galore
Each time a tray emptied someone filled it with more
None of these things would have been a mistake
If I hadn’t topped it all off with a huge piece of cake
Each bite that I took I chewed with a grin
Now today I must carry a dandy third chin
Why does this happen to me every year?
Why must I pay for my Christmas cheer?
Now its time to get up, the exercise must begin
I can no longer lay here feeling the stretch of my skin

The Best of All Gifts
Snowfall is purest on Christmas Morn
For it's the day that Christ was born.
At dawn all the sleepy children awake
Down the stairs their way they make
Delighted and excited by what they see
Stacks of gifts underneath the tree
With eyes of love and the spirit of fun
They open their packages one by one
However, the best of all gifts
Had not been written on anyone’s list
It’s being with family while sharing laughter
And making memories to carry everyday after
Whether they live near or in cities afar
Relatives travel to be where loved ones are.
Food, drink and music it’s a family celebration
On this day hearts are filled with great jubilation
Children dance as dad plays guitar by the fire
Mom works in the kitchen and peeks to admire
After dinner’s been eaten and everyone’s belly is full
Dad grabs onto Mom and brings her close with a pull
As he hugs her tightly she whispers into his ear
Thank you my darling, it’s been a great year
Then when night falls and the day settles down
In a moment of silence Gods presence is found.
For it's the day that Christ was born.
At dawn all the sleepy children awake
Down the stairs their way they make
Delighted and excited by what they see
Stacks of gifts underneath the tree
With eyes of love and the spirit of fun
They open their packages one by one
However, the best of all gifts

When You Get a Christmas Card
I have a list of people
All written in a book
And once or twice a year
I go and take a look
And this year I realized
Those names are a big part
of not the book they're in
But of my very heart
Each address stands for someone
Who I have met some time
And in that meeting they've become
Important to this life of mine
And once you've met some people
No amount of time can erase
The memory of kind words
Or a loving face.
So when you get a Christmas card
That I've addressed to you
It's because you're on that list
of those special few
And you are one of those souls
In times past I've met
And happen to be one of those
I will not soon forget
All written in a book
And once or twice a year
I go and take a look
And this year I realized
Those names are a big part
of not the book they're in
But of my very heart
Each address stands for someone
Who I have met some time
And in that meeting they've become
Important to this life of mine
And once you've met some people
No amount of time can erase
The memory of kind words
Or a loving face.
So when you get a Christmas card
That I've addressed to you
It's because you're on that list
of those special few
And you are one of those souls
In times past I've met
And happen to be one of those
I will not soon forget

Without B
The English language can be frustrating at times. It can also be beautiful and amazing. I have always found it interesting how removing one letter from certain words can completely change their meaning.
Without B
A game for four players is range of mountains and hills.
A vessel for traveling on water is a staple in most meals.
Something that is spacious or has a wide range is just a travel way.
And an appliance used for mixing becomes someone you must repay.
A small flowing stream is a crow like bird or a popular chess piece,
And it’s always a sad thing when invoking great care becomes a decrease.
A loose feminine garment worn from neck to waist
Are parasitic insects always killed in haste.
The division of a stem would produce a specialized farm,
And bristles set in a handle is the result of missing the alarm.
A male swine aids vessels when propelling through the seas
And a mechanism designed for slowing is used to clean up leaves.
Something that helps to resist weight becomes a contest of speed
And an online journal is the product of a fallen tree.
To shine intermittently would be a bond or connecting structure.
Heating water to produce vapors becomes a necessity to our culture.
A person who shows tremendous courage deserves to be given enthusiastic praise,
And the harsh cry of a donkey carries the sunlight many times with a blaze.
A list of things that must be paid will make us sick or have displeasure
And the act of springing back becomes an increment of measure.
