When You Get a Christmas Card

I have a list of people
All written in a book
And once or twice a year
I go and take a look
And this year I realized
Those names are a big part
of not the book they're in
But of my very heart

Each address stands for someone
Who I have met some time
And in that meeting they've become
Important to this life of mine
And once you've met some people
No amount of time can erase
The memory of kind words
Or a loving face.

So when you get a Christmas card
That I've addressed to you
It's because you're on that list
of those special few
And you are one of those souls
In times past I've met
And happen to be one of those
I will not soon forget
